Baby's First Year and Beyond

A Silvery Blue Family Newborn Session – Baby Noah – Looking Up Photography Studio

Newborn

This session was the BEST! As you’ll see below, Mom had a proclivity to silvery grays, light blues, and natural wood tones. Since my studio is in the quintessential New England state of Connecticut, of course I loved these color choices. And I love it when my clients are clear about what they want. This session, in all of its stormy sea-hued glory, worked out beautifully. Just beautifully! This delightful family and myself (their photographer) all had such an excellent time working together. And I do mean EXCELLENT. Like, I wanted to give them big ol’ hugs when our session time was complete. In my opinion, the first few images from this session are especially magical! I love the soft white of the first image. White can be a powerful shade, especially in a studio setting. Whether the sky outside is sunny or full of clouds, I’ll have fabulous light conditions in the Looking Up Photography studio. Some of my best photo sessions have taken place indoors.

This family were such great sports for their second time around. You can view big sister Lily’s newborn session post here!

This Connecticut photographer loved this family newborn experience. My favorite thing about my photo sessions in the studio is that even though the studio conditions are always blessedly consistent, no two sessions are ever the same.

Here are a few of my favorite photographs from this fantastic family newborn session:

A newborn baby boy named Noah sleeps peacefully in a light swaddle. His hands and feet poke out of the swaddle in a relaxed way. The baby has a head full of dark hair.
A macro style portrait of the face of a newborn baby boy named Noah. Baby Noah's chin rests lightly on a ribbed blanket. His facial features (including the longest eyelashes) are clear and soft-looking!
A newborn baby boy with dark hair rests his head on his hands. His eyes are open and he has a sleepy, almost bored expression on his face. His light blue swaddle trails behind him in an almost snowflake-like pattern.
The perfect rustic modern farmhouse newborn portrait. Newborn baby boy Noah, lightly draped in a dusty blue muslin swaddle, sleeps peacefully in a shabby chic, oversized wash bowl lined with a chunky knit, dusty blue blanket woven from alpaca hair.
Newborn baby boy Noah appears to be sleeping on a stormcloud as he lies his head on his hand, resting on a gray-blue alpaca blanket with a chunky, wide weave.
Big sister Lily, previously photographed by Karen Kahn for her own newborn session, looks happily off-camera with her gap-toothed smile, as her new baby brother sleeps peacefully on her shoulder.
A beautiful multicultural mother with dark eyes and long, dark hair holds her smiling newborn baby boy up next to her face. The baby is swaddled in a felted, sky blue swaddle and Mom wears a matching eyelet dress.

“You know what the great thing about babies is? They are like little bundles of hope. Like the future in a basket.” – Lish McBride

A father holds his newborn son in his hands and smiles down at him. The pair match: dad's henley shirt and the baby boy's swaddle are almost the same color of sky blue.
