The beauty of a loving family is a sight to behold. This wonderful family was full of joy during the session, and I loved crafting their gorgeous newborn’s first photography session with them.
Parents Ken and Cynthia chose a lovely palette of pinks, purples, light blues, and creams for their newborn Remi’s pictures, and it couldn’t have suited her better. They loved the baskets and lace wraps that I’ve used for other newborn sessions in the past, and they wanted to do the same for theirs. Throughout this newborn session, you’ll notice that Remi often looks as if she’s floating around on the fluffiest cloud. This was our goal, as Mom explains, “Remi’s middle name is Mia, and the Japanese character we use for it is “beautiful sky”.” Cynthia had the idea of using props from my studio to mimic clouds and wings, to match Remi’s lovely name. So we did just that!
For one scene, we wrapped Remi up in a tiny purple blanket, and complimented it with a wisp of magenta to surround her and help her pop against the fluffy white background. In another scene, we gently laid her on top of a puff of light blue inside a wicker basket, and used a wrap of lace to give it more texture. We posed her in a couple different ways, but my favorite was laying her on her tummy and placing a bit of the white fluff from the backdrop on her back. This little angel has wings!
Remi has two older siblings: brother Dylan and sister Chloe. They were so fun and full of life during the session, and we got some wonderful shots of them posing with Remi. They have the cutest smiles, and the best outfits! We even got a fun sibling shot with just the two of them, capturing their budding personalities. Among the things that their parents love the most about raising them, watching their kids grow into their personalities and explore their curiosities.
Last, but certainly not least, are the parent shots. I especially love these because you can always see a profound love in the eyes of mom and dad as they look upon their precious little one. You can definitely see that in Ken and Cynthia, especially in the picture where they are both holding Remi. There’s something extra special about that one, and I’m so glad I was able to capture this moment for them. When I asked them why they wanted to have their portraits done at this point in their lives, they said, “Now that we’ve had Remi, our family is complete.” It was a truly a joy to capture their complete family in this newborn session!
A newborn session is about freezing moments in time, before your little one grows up.
