Baby's First Year and Beyond

Perfect Patience | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

Newborn

Waiting for a baby to arrive can take some real patience. From the first thoughts of all the wonderful ways that life will change with the arrival of the little blessing, to the last few days before giving birth, the whole journey from conception to birth is a real test of patience. Natalie and Jordan know this well, for the second time around now. They have two daughters, 2-year-old Sloane, and newborn Alice. We were able to include the whole family in their newborn session, and it sure was a wonderful time in the studio!

Patience is a big part of a newborn session. That perfect picture takes a good deal of time and effort to get, and it takes teamwork to make it happen. I love brainstorming with the parents before the shoot, getting a feel for who they are and how they envision the perfect way to capture their precious little one. For Natalie and Jordan, it was with a palette of creams, grays, and pastel pinks in scenes with soft furs and fabrics surrounding Alice. We captured this dreamy little girl in a pretty pink setting that gave it an airy feel, with Alice’s perfect expression completing it. I love the pastel pink aura around her, and the cute little headband topped it off beautifully.

Posing a newborn takes some patience, and there’s often a lot of waiting involved. Once you do get them posed, sometimes you have to be patient to wait for that little yawn, or a smile, or just for them to settle into the position. Alice was wonderful, and you can see that in each scene. For a change of tone, we crafted a scene that featured a gray palette and floral textures, sealing the deal with a floral headband. I loved the tonal change between the pink and the gray, and it was so fun to work both of these colors into the session.

One of my all-time favorite things about these sessions is getting the whole family in front of the camera. I loved that Mom and Dad wanted to involve Sloane in the shoot, and it was a joy to capture her budding personality. The pure joy that you can see on their faces as they gaze at the new addition to their family speaks volumes about what kind of a family they are. You can see glimpses of this in the solo shots with Mom and Dad with Alice, especially in their beautiful smiles. But of course, the pictures with all four stole the show for me.

Natalie and Jordan were looking for a photographer who understands the importance of patience, especially when it comes to newborn photography. That patience comes easy when you love what you do, and I especially loved capturing this lovely family. If this is something you value too, contact me here to book your session today!

Enjoy!
