Is anyone else looking for fun photo inspiration for newborns, these days? As we can maybe see the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, I think it’s important for professional photographers to prioritize our businesses, and maybe even make things a little extra special for our clients! If you’re a parent, are your kids aware of the history being played out all around them? My children are old enough to understand that they’re living through a time that will someday be in history books! Of course, there have been a lot of questions, and a little bit of stress, too. Being home all the time isn’t always ideal, but we have certainly made the best of it. We’ve even had days that were downright blissful. Still, even though I’m working, getting to the studio for a sweet little newborn session can serve as a little chance for me to ‘take a breath’. Scroll down to see how I created this session for a new client!
A little newborn session trick for my fellow professional newborn photographers: keep a fully stocked studio. This adds a terrific, convenient touch to sessions for clients, and helps them be confident that they don’t need to have anything for baby to wear. There are many marketplace-style groups for photographers if you’re on a budget, to start! Make sure you thoroughly wash anything you purchase second-hand, using the appropriate, baby-friendly detergent or cleaning method. You can even create a closet for older siblings if you choose to. Then, be sure your clients know you have this option available, and that you have their new family member(s) covered for your session. Knowing that I have all the swaddles and adorable hats one can imagine is such a perk for my clients.
