Well, I’d love to begin by sharing this delightful magazine cover of Greenwich Neighbors magazine, published this month by Best Version Media. Katie used my photos for their feature and it turned out so gorgeous. You can also visit Katie’s blog, Witten Kitchen, here. It’s the little things, for me.
When I first saw this image of father and son from the back of my camera, I loved the expressions it held. It has just enough softness and movement in it with that amazing natural backdrop, and baby Rory’s extended hand. This session was inspired by family, the season, and the natural beauty of the place we call home. Allowing children to be children is a key element of any outdoor family session (or any session, for that matter). Kids add so much life and emotional color to an image, often bringing out the very best and most organic expressions in their parents as well. I love how Alex, Rory, and I capitalized on that, here, allowing Katie’s vision for her family photos to be brought to life almost effortlessly.
For the final photo, I always like to get a snapshot of parents without their fabulous children. It can be easy to forget that kids exist because of parents – and not the other way around – and it’s good for both adults and children to see their love for each other shine on its own!
